★ Physician Reviewer

CompPartners is seeking experienced physicians.

CompPartners provides peer review services via a nationally certified physician panel for the Workers’ Comp, auto-liability, and long-, short-term disability industries. Our clients include insurance carriers, self insured employers, and third party administrators. CompPartners is recognized and accredited by URAC as a leader that provides the highest standards within the Independent Peer Review arena.

As a result of national growth with our new and existing clients, CompPartners is expanding its panel for the following specialties: Pain Management, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Occupational Medicine, Orthopedics, Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Spine Surgeons. Qualified independent peer reviewers will provide clients with credible written opinions regarding reasonableness and necessity of care, treatment recommendations, and best practice standards.

Job Requirements:

    - Current, full, unrestricted license and in good standing with the State licensing board.
    - All providers on our panel must be Board Certified.
    - In active practice, either clinical or teaching for no less than 8 hours per week.
    - Special training and/or experience in workers’ compensation utilization review and current       applicable California law.
    - Knowledge of the treating physician’s responsibilities within the workers’ compensation system.
    - Able to accept EXPEDITED reviews- quick one day-one call reviews; these are relatively easy       but under a tighter timeframe.
    - Work remotely from your office or home setting, this must be located within the United States.


    - Active license in one or more of the following: California, Colorado, Louisiana, Nevada,       Mississippi
    - Special training and/or experience in workers’ compensation utilization review and current       applicable law.
    - Past or current clinical experience in the management and prevention of workplace injury.
    - Strong writing and PC skills; including web applications and email.
    - Access to high-speed internet connection.
    - Commitment to high quality work.
    - Ability to provide objective, first-level determinations.

★ Nurse Auditor

Responsible for initial audit of completed peer review reports, ensuring that essential medical information is included, grammar and syntax are correct, and that review conforms with any state statutes, URAC guidelines, and/or customer requests.


    - May assist in the assigning process of reviews to appropriate reviewers.
    - Verify the reviewer addressed and responded to requesting nurse’s original request.
    - Verify that the nurse’s request correlates to original doctor’s notes, prescriptions, and insurer’s       referral. Communicate with requesting nurse to clear up any discrepancies.
    - Check and correct grammar, spelling, and syntax of reviews.
    - Ensure correct date of injury and that date of review corresponds with date review is completed       and sent.
    - Ensure that terms used in review conform to jurisdictional and/or customer preferences as       appropriate.
    - Verify that review was done by correct provider (by degree, specialty) and ensure that name of       reviewer, specialty, license number and state of licensure are indicated and correct on review.
    - Make sure that any applicable state rules and guidelines have been addressed.
    - Verify that all reviewed data is listed in review. May require communication with reviewing       doctor.
    - Verify conformity of recommendation to medical rationale. Revise rationale language if       sufficient information is present in review. Apply guidelines/references to selected peer reviews       as directed by Medical Director.
    - Ensure appropriate call requirement is met and disclaimer information is included.
    - Maintains daily production standard of audits completed (dependent on daily work volume)
    - Perform CQI audit on technical writers and peer reviewers as designated by Medical Director.
    - May assist customer service in answering reviewers’ questions.

Job Requirements:

    - Three or more years experience in managed care/clinical care/peer review
    - RN license

Other Skills & Abilities:

    - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    - Ability to revise peer reviews as a technical writer.
    - Ability to work in a team-oriented, flexible, and fast-paced environment.
